About SRAS

It’s our mission to improve and save animal lives by promoting quality care and compassion through adoption and humane education in the region.

The Snake River Animal Shelter (SRAS) is the only non-profit animal sheltering facility serving all of East Idaho, located on the banks of the Snake River in Idaho Falls, ID.  Our community needed a non-profit shelter that would offer education opportunities on the humane treatment of animals as well as implement innovative programs to alleviate the problem of too many unwanted domestic animals.  All of the animals that come to SRAS are given an unlimited length of stay, but our primary goal is to find every critter in our care a forever home as soon as possible. The Snake River Animal Shelter’s vision is to be the leader in our region through operational best practices and impactful programs to increase the number of animal lives saved.  We improve the well-being of animals and people by bettering the quality of life in our community. SRAS launched the “Keep Fido Home” initiative in January 2019 to help provide training to shelter animals, publicly owned pets and provide ADA certified animals for Veterans and individuals with disabilities. This new program is called the Idaho K-9 Academy, to find out more information about the Idaho K-9 Academy you can call the Snake River Animal Shelter at (208)523-4219 Tuesday-Friday 11am-5:30pm or go to the program website at

Currently, SRAS also manages the animal sheltering contract for Jefferson County and the City of Ucon.

The following tax records are available to the public, we thank our community for their support and strive to continue to grow programs and services that make a difference in people’s lives.
